Corneal Refractive Therapy is a process of successive contact lens fittings designed to alter the shape of the cornea in order to correct vision. After a complete eye examination and Corneal mapping the fitter determines the initial lenses to begin the process. The lenses are worn at night (much as a dental retainer) and gently mold the cornea. As the cornea changes, and the prescription needed lessens, new lenses are fit until the patient reaches maximum correction. The final pair of lenses is worn nightly to retain the cornea's corrected shape. This process is completely reversible: simply discontinuing wear of the lenses will allow the cornea to return to its original shape.
